Most forums on this discussion board accept attachments of type gif, jpg, and png, and allow you to specify where to place them within your post. First, click the link titled Attach a file..., which is located below the subject area and above the message area. If this link is not shown, then the forum you are in does not allow attachments.
After you click Attach a file..., a new text box will appear. Click the "Browse" button beside it, and select the file that you would like to attach. Once the file path is shown in the text box, click the "Attach" button.
To ensure that the figure appears in a specific location within your message, place the cursor at the desired location and click the "Place inline" button. If you complete and submit your message without choosing where to place the figure, it will appear at the bottom of your message, after the text. If you decide that you do not want to attach the figure, simply click the "Delete" button.
If you would like to attach another file, click the link titled Attach another file... and repeat the above process.
LatexRender has been installed to make it easier to post mathematical symbols and formulae. This module converts all text surrounded by the [tex] and [/tex] tags into a small image after it has been processed by LATEX.
For example, if you wanted to post the geopotential form of the hypsometric equation, you would write:
[tex]\displaymode \Phi(z_2)-\Phi(z_1) = R \int^_ T d \ln p[/tex]which would display in your final post as:

Although each image is small, the space required will gradually add up. If you need to use the same symbol multiple times in one post, please click the "Preview" button after your first use, and then copy and paste the [img]...[/img] link that replaces the LATEX code. Thanks!
